Update on the great cluster@!*k of 2010

April 29, 2010

Today I took off after work to get over to the Social Services office. I had to hand in my paperwork for the mess from my last post.

It appears that there is a chance the times I (stupidly) paid my support in cash will never be accounted for. So I may still be on the books for some of this money. sigh…

If you are divorced and paying child support I have a few tips for you.

1. ALWAYS pay with a check. Don’t care how much the other bitches or their circumstances. It will come back to haunt you.

2. Save a copy of each of those check. For-friggin’-evuh!

3.If your state has an automated way of doing child support payments, use it.

4. If you are stupid enough to pay support in cash, get a receipt.

Yes it’s a pain. Yes it is more grief than most of us want to deal with. But if there is ever a problem, you know you have done an epic CYA. Use every stupid resource you can, keep every document you can, because it can come and bite you in the ass. You may think that you have made an amicable split, but you never know what the future brings. What if it all goes to hell and you decide that you can’t stand each other? Well guess what pal, you are fucked.

Plus if it was all good, you would never have gotten a divorce in the first place. And if everything is cool they won’t be pissed if you go through the proper channels. So never expect that anyone is honest or worth a damn. More often than not, they are just wanting to get theirs. So play it smart.
